Benefit Brew

Every year we are thrilled to partner with a local charity group to produce a limited-run, specially-crafted beer. We design the label, name the beer after the charity, and donate full proceeds to the cause. It has always been a highlight on our calendar, but after the first 2 years we discovered a problem: there were too many amazing causes and groups for us to simply choose one!

To solve our problem we put it to the community to make the choice for us. Here is how our annual Benefit Brew competition works:

1.Charities enter or are nominated online by filling out a nomination form at http://phillipsbeer.com/benefitbrew. Nominations are open for 3 weeks and the only stipulations are that the organization must be a non-profit, and it cannot be a children’s charity (obvious age-related complications).

2.10 entries are selected by a special community panel and announced as the ‘short-list’.

3.The public then votes for the winner from through an on-line poll running for 2 weeks.

4. The charity who has the most votes wins! 2011 saw the Ancient Forest Alliance emerge victorious and we released the Ancient Brown Ale for them. Total contribution usually works out to around $10,000 to the cause.
