Hoppy Anniversary to Us!

Hoppy anniversary to us! We’ve brewed up this special Deconstructed IPA mix pack to toast another year in the books. How do we go about deconstructing an IPA exactly? Well first, we’ve included three single hop IPAs so you can see what each of these hops are bringing to the party. The final 473mL can in this festive four pack combines all three hops so you can taste how they all come together for one truly delicious dance party on your palate. Two of the hops included here have a notable link to our brewing past with the final hop chosen because of how much fun we’re been having brewing with it recently. After all, there’s nothing we love more than finding delicious new hop varieties that get our brewer’s imaginations running wild. Here’s a closer look at each of these hops:

Centennial Single Hop IPA – 6% ABV
Centennial hops debuted in 1974 as a cross between many different strains including Brewers Gold, Fuggle, East Kent Golding, and Bavarian hops. The name comes from the Washington State Centennial Celebration, which occurred in 1989.
These hops are fantastic for both bittering and aroma and are similar to the Cascade hop with its pine, citrus, and floral notes. Being one of Matt’s favourite hops, it featured prominently in our first ever IPA. With that history in mind, we thought it’d be a perfect fit for our anniversary celebrations, especially since it’s named after an anniversary itself!

Mosaic Single Hop IPA – 6% ABV
Released in 2012, the Mosaic hop is the daughter of the bitter, earthy hop Simcoe, and was developed by Hop Breeding Co. Full of citrusy, floral and piney flavors, this hop achieved immense popularity right after its launch despite being a relative newcomer to the brewing community. In fact, it was so popular that it was a very hard hop to get our hands on at first! We scooped up as much as we could though,  and loved it so much we designed our Kaleidoscope Mosaic IPA to give this hop the spotlight it deserved. The taste ranges from natural, floral notes to both citrus and pine and is a popular choice for single-hop IPAs. It’s tropical notes that finish with a gentle bitter bite make it a very approachable hop on it’s own as well as a being a great foil when combined with more bitter and resinous hops.

Moutere Single Hop IPA – 6% ABV
Released by New Zealand’s plant and food research in 2015 and named after the Maori word for Island, Moutere is a dual-purpose hop that’s high in both alpha acid and oil content. Moutere is a hop that our current brew team has loved and is representative of some of the contemporary hops that we are brewing with. You may have even see it pop up from time to time as a special release in our Tasting Room. Our brew team has been having a fun time exploring the range of this hop and we’re thrilled to share the results with you here. This relatively new variety imparts intense citrus, tropical fruit, and resinous pine, making it ideal for modern IPAs.

Fully Completely IPA – 6% ABV
An amalgamation of three hops (Centennial, Mosaic, Moutere) combined into one delicious IPA! This is your chance to taste what each hop has brought to this tasty hop-luck party. Perhaps even offer a cure for the tragically hop addicted?
