If you follow tradition, the typical eighth anniversary gift is either something made of bronze or pottery. Pouring a glass of Phillips new Crazy 8s Annu-Ale, its bronze hue is immediately pleasing to the eye. And for arguments sake, glass is just a poor man’s pottery, so the bottle the Annu-Ale is contained in can be a keepsake you put on your shelf to remind you not only of the delicious ale you just downed, but of all your fond memories (or lackthereof) tied to times spent with Phillips beer.
But analogies aside, the real treat with the Crazy 8s Annu-Ale is the taste. Phillips is a hop-happy brewery, so as an anniversary present to ourselves, we’ve whipped up a batch of beer that has hop flavour for days. We’ve blended some of our favourite hops and added them at various stages of the brewing process, resulting in the best kind of bitterness, something akin to a delicous grapefruit pucker. We’ve also poured in a healthy dose of Babe’s Honey into the brew, yet the result is not an expected sweetness; the honey gives the Annu-Ale an extremely dry finish.
The Phillips Crazy 8s Annu-Ale is available for a limited time. Check your local cold beer and wine shop or here at 2010 Government street to pick up a few bottles.
