September 24 was the annual Canadian Brewing Awards and Phillips was bestowed a trio of trophies. Taking home another gold was our Longboat Chocolate Porter. Two silvers went to our Black Toque India Dark Ale and our new for 2009 Double Barrel Scotch Ale. Yay us!

If you follow tradition, the typical eighth anniversary gift is either something made of bronze or pottery. Art fans and beer lovers! We've got a new exhibit up at the Phillips Gallery. For the month of September, stop by and check out a variety of new paintings by Victoria artist Dennis Shields. There's a mix of geometric shapes and still life, as well as more abstract work. And while you are in the neighbourhood, Shields also has more works on display just up the road at Mane Essentials, 1822 Government.
